Fotografia barwna była możliwa i stosowana już w czasie PWS.Nie tak dawno prezentowano szeroko serię zdjęć barwnych z Rosji sprzed 1914 roku.Oczywiście , te techniki były trudniejsze i kosztowniejsze niż fotografia czarno-biała , więc i znacznie mniej popularne.
