Some remains of shot down Allied bombers are on display at the heavy weapons department of the Polish Army Museum located at the Czerniakow Fort in Warsaw, they include eg. guns, various parts of equipment and even a good part of B-17's wing, with national insignia still clearly visible.
The Polish Army Museum, in its main building, has also some fragments of a He 111 shot down in September 1939.

That's incredible,
I spend a lot of time at the polish Army museum when I visit warsaw, and I never ever noticed the He 111 bits. Is the B-17 a fairly recent addition?

The last time I was there, some of the aircraft exhibits were looking a bit tired, especially the Yak9. Are the museum planning to refurbish them at any point?

Also interested in any Halifax bits that anyone knows about.

Many thanks for the feedback from all, keep it coming :))

Tony

The B-17's wing was recovered by divers in the area of Szczecin, I believe, few years ago and it has been in the museum for some 2-3 years - initially it was just laying outside, but it's placed inside the fort's casemate now, together with other relics, which also include parts of a B-24 and other - I think British too - planes.
Some parts of He 111's skin (not too big, but with RLM 70/71 paintwork and fragments of a cross still preserved) and probably - as far as I can remember - an MG 15 were included in the permanent 2nd WW exhibition of the Polish Army Museum - and probably still are.
The Jak 9 is undergoing restoration right now, both Ils were also restored, to some degree at least, quite recently.
